my art work is narrative, aesthetically pleasing porcelain every day domestic objects with a sinister edge

Artist statement

When looking at art, many of us look but don't see, often people just walk past, not bothering to find out what it is about or why the artist created it.

This is often the case in life,

We maybe looking at what's right in front of us, but often we miss what is actually going on.

I wanted the passerby to stop and look, then get closer and find out what my work is about.

then perhaps they will see stories of control, bullying, abuse

and also the breakdown of the family home

I have created aesthetically pleasing pieces with a dark sinister edge.

The pieces are based on household objects that sometimes are the kind of 'weapons'  couples would throw at each other in a domestic fight.

All too often domestic abuse is covered up,

made to look pretty so the outside world doesn't notice.

I am trying to show you in my art pieces that you may have covered up the cracks,

you may have painted over the rot,

it may well look pretty, but when you look again,

and you look closer,

you will SEE!
